Alan Hunt
Renowned wildlife artist and avid activist Alan M. Hunt sees himself as a zoologist with a passion for painting nature's creatures. He received his education in art at Middlesbrough Art College in Yorkshire, and acquired his knowledge of zoology through studies at Leeds College and Bristol University. Following his academic pursuits, he worked as a zoologist, eventually rising to the position of director at Chester Zoo in Cheshire, England.
Hunt has an extensive background in working with birds and animals, both in their natural habitats and in captivity. He has served as a guide for birdwatchers and naturalists across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and North America. Hunt's passion for wildlife began at a young age through sketching songbirds near his home. The diverse landscape of rolling moors and marshes provided abundant opportunities to hone his artistic skills. Eventually, Hunt pursued formal training by enrolling in art college. However, he quickly grew dissatisfied with the lack of emphasis on realistic wildlife art from his instructors. As a result, he turned to painting full-time and gained recognition for his work. His artwork has been exhibited worldwide and has received numerous honours and awards. Today, Hunt's beautiful wildlife paintings can be found in both public and private collections around the world, including at Holland's esteemed Jacht Museum.
Due to his combined knowledge in both art and zoology, Hunt is uniquely equipped to observe wildlife from dual perspectives - as a scientist and an artist.
