Duncan Palmar
Duncan Palmar, born in Hampshire in 1964, developed a passion for painting and drawing at a young age. He recalls always seeking out opportunities to visit the art room during his school days. As a means to fund his driving lessons, Palmar began selling his artwork and would even paint portraits of people's homes before approaching them to make a sale.
Despite his parents' initial doubts, Palmars took a risk and pursued his passion for painting at the young age of nineteen. Despite the common belief that it would not lead to a sustainable career, he showed determination and held his first solo exhibition within a year.
Since then, Palmar has achieved remarkable accomplishments, including multiple sold-out exhibitions and a growing fan base of avid supporters and collectors.
Influenced by the methods of the Newlyn School, Palmars' unique paintings depict texture, light and atmosphere in a seemingly effortless manner. His preferred subjects often consist of English landscapes and coastlines, with a special focus on the ever-changing movement, rhythms and vastness of the sea.
From his home in Surrey, Palmar shares, "I feel incredibly lucky to have the opportunity to paint every day and am committed to doing so for as long as possible."
